John Biles update
Well I got a phone call the other day with some interesting news, it seems john has finally crawled out from under his rock,
it turns out he is in toowoomba working for a local building company Suncrest Homes, one local tradesman has already called him wanting to know why he was not paid etc, but I think he did not get much satisfaction with johns answers, john just hopes everyone forgets it and it all goes away, anyway why not give him a call of encouragement, I know I will,

My wife and I were ripped off by Biles 20 years ago for $27,000 which we were lucky to recover from. We found out later Biles had sent at least 4 Nu Steel franchise banckrupt and when we found him he was in the process of sending Steel Tough Toowoomba to the wall.
The BCIPA is your protection with guys like this. I know it probably wont make any difference with this bloke but there are ways to circumvent problems like this for the future.
Just so you know what I do- I am involved in adjudication matters on a daily basis and I have a software program called thepowertool which deals with the payment process in an in depth way but with a simple and easy to use web site front end. (Hope you don’t mind the plug)
The BCIPA is generally regarded as adjudication and dispute resolution but this is only the last 5 sections of the Act. There are 18 sections of the Act that precede the adjudication clauses and that’s where you find your real protection.
You have the power to stop work under the Act if payment is not made on time and are indemnified from any delay charges as well as having protection over your contract.
Using the Act to it’s full potential is how you protect yourself and minimise damage from renegade operators.
If anyone would like to contact me about payment and entitlement protection visit my website and send me an email.
